Short answer: a bench seat base is a low base cabinet, 16⅞″ tall and 24″ deep, with one deep drawer. Line a few up, add a seat top or cushion, and you have a built-in bench with storage underneath. They come 24″, 30″ and 36″ wide.
| Width | Height | Depth | Inside |
|---|---|---|---|
| 24″ | 16⅞″ | 24″ | 1 deep drawer |

Where they work
- A breakfast nook banquette along a wall
- A window seat
- A mudroom or entry bench, with shoes and bags in the drawers
Planning one
- Measure the wall where the bench goes and pick a mix of widths that adds up to it (for example, 30″ + 36″ = 66″).
- Plan the seat top or cushion. The cabinet is 16⅞″ tall; the top you add sets the final seat height.
- Leave room in front for the drawers to open, and for knees under the table.
What you get
Each one has a 5/8″ solid wood dovetail drawer on a soft-close undermount slide, a plywood box finished to match on the outside, and a solid hardwood face frame. Ready to assemble or assembled.
