Good to know
- Make-up air may be required for ventilation over 400 CFM; check with your HVAC contractor.
- Finishing a raw hood yourself: a professional spray-on finish (such as a pre-catalyzed lacquer) is recommended. Wiping stains are not recommended.
- The chimney is up to 1/8" smaller than the apron so it can sit behind the trim.
- The brass or steel accents are a cabinet-grade metal laminate over maple veneer, mounted to the front face of the wood trim (metal laminate does not bend).

Custom sizes are final sale. Standard sizes can be returned for a 25% restocking fee plus return freight. Order changes cost $250 after 2 business days and $500 after that.

Frequently asked questions
What size hood should I get?
At least as wide as your cooktop or range, and ideally 6" wider (3" past each side): for example a 36" hood over a 30" cooktop. Gas and professional-style ranges often do better with up to 6" per side. This style comes 30", 36", 42", 48", 54" or 60" wide. The Hood Finder on this page works it out for you.
Does the hood come with a fan?
No. This is the wood hood only. You add a range hood insert (the fan, lights and filters) that fits inside it. See "What goes inside" on this page for the Victory inserts we've checked against the size you pick.
Which insert fits my hood?
The opening inside the hood is the width you order minus 1-1/2", 18" deep as standard, with an 8-1/4" tall apron. You can order a deeper inside (19-5/16", 20-1/2" or 22-1/2"). If your insert is taller than the apron, call us before you order.
How tall should my hood be?
We recommend 30" to 36" between the cooktop and the bottom of the hood. As a guide, an 8 ft ceiling suits a 30" tall hood, 9 ft a 36" hood and 10 ft a 48" hood. This style comes 30", 36" or 48" tall. We can also cut it down by up to 6" at the factory or add a 6", 12" or 24" chimney extension.
What finishes can I get?
18 finishes: raw, primed (paint ready), stained or painted. The photos are renderings, so actual color and wood grain may vary. Where we have no photo of a color yet, the picker shows its name. We can also match your paint color from a Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore code, or from a sample you mail in (paint-matched hoods take 25 to 30 business days). Hoods are cabinet-grade plywood with a white maple veneer; some stain colors are made on birch instead, where that stain looks better. If you finish a raw hood yourself, use a professional spray finish such as a pre-catalyzed lacquer; wiping stains are not recommended.
How long does it take, and how does it ship?
Each hood is made to order: 20 to 25 business days to build, or 10 to 15 with rush. Then allow up to 7 business days for shipping. It ships free to the lower 48 states by truck freight. The carrier calls the day before to book a delivery time, and you must book it. Delivery is curbside, so plan to have help to bring it inside. Inspect it on delivery and write any damage on the delivery receipt before the driver leaves, then call us.
Can I return it?
Custom sizes are final sale. Standard-size hoods can be returned in the original packaging, unused and not modified, for a 25% restocking fee plus the freight to send it back. Add-ons such as chimney extensions can't be returned. Order changes are free for 2 business days, then $250 until the hood goes into production, and $500 after.
Do you install it?
No, we sell the hood but don't install it. Plan on a finish carpenter for the framing and hanging, and a licensed electrician and HVAC contractor for the insert and the duct, and make sure the work meets your local building codes. Hanging it takes cutting, sanding and basic woodworking. Call us with any questions before you start.
How do I clean it?
Use a soft cloth with clear, fragrance-free dish soap and water.
