Victory Q5 36 Inch Range Hood Insert with Remote Blower

This 36 inch Victory Q5 insert moves the fan motor out of the kitchen. You pick a 450 or 600 CFM remote blower that mounts inline in the duct or on an outside wall, so the hood itself stays quieter. It hides inside a custom wood hood and is 19-1/4 inches deep for good coverage.

    Installing it

    How it goes in

    We sell Victory hoods but don't install them. These steps summarize Victory's installation manual so you and your installer know what's involved. Always follow the manual and local codes.

    1. 1

      Test before enclosing

      Victory's Q5 manual says to check the hood works before boxing it into cabinetry.

    2. 2

      Plan the duct, blower and power

      Choose where the inline or outdoor blower will go and run 6 or 8 inch round metal duct to match it. Plan power with an electrician.

    3. 3

      Add solid backing

      The Q5 hangs on the back wall. Screw it to studs or a plywood brace, never drywall anchors.

    4. 4

      Finish the surround

      Build the wood hood around it so the bottom lip sits flush under the bottom panel, with front doors for access.

    What is a remote blower?

    The fan motor sits away from the hood, either inline in the duct run or on an outside wall, instead of inside the insert. You pick 450 CFM on 6 inch duct or 600 CFM on 8 inch duct.

    Which blower option should I choose?

    Inline blowers sit inside the duct run. Outdoor wall blowers mount on the outside wall. Pick 6 inch or 8 inch to match the duct you plan to run, since each option is tied to its duct size.

    What size opening does my wood hood need?

    Victory's cut-out in the bottom panel of an existing cabinet for the 36 inch Q5 is 34-1/2 inches wide by 18-3/8 inches deep. The insert's bottom lip overlaps the opening. That figure comes from the standard Q5 manual.

    Which way does it vent?

    Victory lists this version as top exhaust only.

    Can I use it without ducting to the outside?

    No. Victory's Q5 manual says all exhaust must be vented outside, never into an attic, wall or ceiling space.
