Overview
Victory Q5 42 Inch Range Hood Insert
The Victory Q5 is a 42 inch range hood insert that hides inside a custom wood hood or cabinet surround. It moves up to 750 CFM on 8 inch duct with an all-metal blower and simple rotary knobs. Its 19-1/4 inch depth gives deep coverage over the cooktop.
Strong, steady airflow
An all-metal blower moves up to 750 CFM on 8 inch duct to clear smoke and steam.
Deep coverage
At 19-1/4 inches deep, it reaches further over the front burners than shallower inserts.
Easy to clean
Stainless baffle filters and a grease trap come out and go right in the dishwasher.

Installing it
How it goes in
We sell Victory hoods but don't install them. These steps summarize Victory's installation manual so you and your installer know what's involved. Always follow the manual and local codes.
- 1
Test it first
Victory says to plug the hood in and check the fan and lights before it is enclosed in any cabinetry.
- 2
Plan the duct and outlet
Pick the duct route to the roof or an outside wall (straight and short works best) and place a 120V outlet where it won't block the duct and stays reachable afterward.
- 3
Add solid backing
The hood hangs on the back wall. The manual shows cutting out drywall to add a plywood brace between the studs. Don't hang it on drywall anchors.
- 4
Mount the insert
Fasten the 6 or 8 inch transition, then screw the hood to the studs and brace, with extra screws through the side holes into the surround panels.
- 5
Connect the duct
Run round metal duct from the transition to the outside cap, sealing every joint with aluminum foil tape.
- 6
Finish the surround
Build the wood hood or cabinet around it so the hood's bottom lip sits flush under the bottom panel, with front doors for access. Then fit the grease tunnel and filters.
We sell the hood, not the install
We don't install. A contractor, with an electrician for the power, should follow the maker's manual. Questions while you plan? Call us at (508) 419-4276.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
What size duct does it need?
It comes with both a 6 inch and an 8 inch round transition. Victory rates it 600 CFM on 6 inch duct and 750 CFM on 8 inch duct, and recommends 8 inch for the best airflow.
How high above the cooktop should it go?
Victory recommends 24 to 30 inches between the cooktop and the bottom of the hood, with 28 inches as the sweet spot. Also check your range maker's clearance rules.
What size opening does my wood hood need?
For an existing cabinet, Victory's cut-out in the bottom panel is 40-1/2 inches wide by 18-3/8 inches deep. The insert's bottom lip overlaps the opening, and the cabinet needs front doors so you can reach it.
Are the filters dishwasher safe?
Yes. It uses stainless steel baffle filters with a grease trap, and Victory lists them as dishwasher safe. Victory suggests cleaning them about every 30 hours of cooking.
Can it vent out the back instead of the top?
It's set up to vent from the top. Victory offers a rear-vent version, but it has to be set up at the factory, so contact us before you order if you need it.
Can I use it without ducting to the outside?
No. Victory says all exhaust must be vented outside, never into an attic, wall or ceiling space.
What's the warranty?
Victory gives a lifetime motor warranty and a 5-year parts warranty to the original buyer for normal home use in the US and Canada. Lights and filters are not covered.
