Overview
Victory Star 42 Inch Range Hood Insert with Remote Blower
The Victory Star 42 remote blower kit pairs a stainless steel range hood insert with a separate 1000 CFM blower. The blower mounts in the duct run or on an outside wall instead of inside the hood, so the motor sits away from the cooking area. It suits custom wood hoods over 42 inch ranges where you can plan the blower location before the cabinetry is built.
Motor out of the kitchen
The 1000 CFM blower mounts in the duct run or on an outside wall, away from where you cook.
Your choice of blower
Pick an inline blower that hides in the duct, or an outdoor blower that mounts on the exterior wall.
Simple rotary knobs
Rotary knobs set the fan speed and dim the three LED lights. No touch panel to fuss with.

Installing it
How it goes in
We sell Victory hoods but don't install them. These steps summarize Victory's installation manual so you and your installer know what's involved. Always follow the manual and local codes.
- 1
Test it first
Unpack, check for damage, and test the insert and blower before anything is closed up.
- 2
Plan the blower spot
Decide where the inline or outdoor blower will go and how the 8 inch duct will reach it. Victory shows a brace support for mounting the blower.
- 3
Plan the height
Set the insert 24 to 30 inches above the cooktop (28 is optimal), and leave room for 2x4 wood blocking.
- 4
Mount the insert
Fasten the insert into the cabinet or hood box opening, screwed to fire-rated blocking and wall studs.
- 5
Connect the duct
Run 8 inch metal duct to the blower and outside, seal joints with aluminum tape, and add a backdraft damper. Wrap the duct and blower with insulation in cold climates.
- 6
Finish
Fit the grease tunnel and baffle filters and check that the fan and lights work.
We sell the hood, not the install
We don't install. A contractor, with an electrician for the power, should follow the maker's manual. Questions while you plan? Call us at (508) 419-4276.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the two blower options?
Both are rated 1000 CFM on 8 inch duct. The inline blower installs inside the duct run between the hood and the outside; the outdoor blower mounts on the exterior wall where the duct exits.
What size duct does it need?
8 inch round metal duct all the way. Victory says not to use smaller duct or reducers, because that cuts airflow and adds noise.
How high above the cooktop should it go?
Victory's Star manual recommends 24 to 30 inches between the cooktop and the bottom of the hood, with 28 inches as the best spot.
Can it recirculate instead of venting outside?
No. It must be ducted to the outdoors through a roof or wall cap.
What size opening does the hood surround need?
Victory's Star 42 drawing shows a 39 x 19-5/8 inch body. Victory does not publish a separate cut-out for the remote blower version, so confirm the opening with Victory's drawings before your hood is built.
