Overview
Victory Sunset Flush Ceiling Mount Range Hood
The Victory Sunset sits flush in the ceiling over your cooktop, so nothing hangs down to block the view. It is built to fit between standard ceiling joists 16" on center. A wired glass wall switch runs the 4-speed fan and dims the lights.
Flush with the ceiling
The Sunset recesses into the ceiling between standard joists 16" on center. Only a 3/4" trim shows below the ceiling.
Pulls air in at the edges
Victory's perimeter suction design draws air in around the edges of the panel. Four speeds, up to 600 CFM.
Controls on the wall
The included glass wall switch has a 4-speed fan dial and a touch dimmer for the lights, so you never reach for the ceiling.

Installing it
How it goes in
We sell Victory hoods but don't install them. These steps summarize Victory's installation manual so you and your installer know what's involved. Always follow the manual and local codes.
- 1
Test it first
Victory says to test the fan and lights before the hood is recessed into the ceiling.
- 2
Plan the rough-in
Line the hood up with the joists and center it over the cooktop. The ceiling cut-out goes between two joists; add blocking if they are more than 14" apart.
- 3
Pick the vent direction
Use the side outlet, or follow the manual to rotate the blower to the top outlet. Test the blower again after rotating it.
- 4
Wire the wall switch
A certified electrician runs two 14-3 cables from the wall switch to the hood's electrical box, plus a 14-2 cable from the panel.
- 5
Lift and connect the duct
With a helper, lift the hood into the ceiling and attach the 6" duct. Seal every joint with aluminum foil tape.
- 6
Fasten to the joists
Remove the filters and drive wood screws through the side walls into the joists on each side. Reinstall the filters.
We sell the hood, not the install
We don't install. A contractor, with an electrician for the power, should follow the maker's manual. Questions while you plan? Call us at (508) 419-4276.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Will it fit between my ceiling joists?
Victory designed the Sunset to fit between joists 16" on center. The manual shows a ceiling cut-out of about 32" x 13" between two joists. If your joists are more than 14" apart, your installer adds wood blocking to bring the opening to 13". The joists and the cooktop must line up the same way; if they don't, the hood may need to drop into a framed box.
Does it vent out the top or the side?
Either. It uses a 6" round outlet on the top or the side of the blower housing. Victory's manual shows how to turn the blower to switch from side vent to top vent. Plan the direction with your installer before the ceiling is opened up.
How loud is it?
Victory rates it at 1.0 sones on the lowest speed and 6.0 sones on high. One sone is roughly the sound of a refrigerator.
What size duct does it need?
6" round metal duct at minimum, and rigid duct works best. The run can be up to 50 feet of straight duct, minus 9 feet for each 90° elbow, 5 feet for each 45° elbow, and 7 feet each for a round-to-rectangle piece and the wall or roof cap. For a long run, Victory says to step up to 8" duct. No reducers and no plenum boxes.
How high above the cooktop should it be?
Victory recommends 48" between the cooktop and the bottom of the hood, and says the hood works best at no more than about 8 feet from the floor. Higher is possible but less efficient.
How is it wired?
It is hardwired, not plugged in. It needs a 120V, 60Hz supply on its own 15 A circuit. The wall switch connects to the hood with two 14-3 cables, plus a 14-2 cable from the panel; the cable is not included. Victory says a certified electrician should do the wiring.
How do I clean the filters?
Open the stainless door to reach the three aluminum mesh filters. Victory says to clean them after every 30 hours of use. They are not dishwasher safe: spray them with a degreaser, let them soak if they are very dirty, then dry and reinstall.
What does the warranty cover?
Victory gives a lifetime motor warranty and a 5-year parts warranty to the original buyer for home use. Keep your receipt. Light bulbs and filters are consumables and are not covered, and damage from improper installation is not covered.
