Overview

Victory SV400J Island Range Hood

The Victory SV400J is a slim stainless steel cylinder hood that hangs from the ceiling over an island cooktop. It vents outside through 6 inch duct with up to 600 CFM, and it can also run ductless if you add charcoal filters.

  1. Slim over the island

A 13-3/4 inch stainless cylinder keeps sightlines open across the kitchen.

  2. Ducted or ductless

Vent outside through 6 inch duct, or add charcoal filters to recirculate when ducting is not an option.

  3. Quiet on low

Rated 1.0 sone on low and up to 600 CFM on high.

Will it fit?

Check your kitchen

Answer what you know and skip the rest. Each check uses the numbers in Victory's manual for this hood. Your installer makes the final call.

1Where is your cooktop?
2Tell us about your cooktop

Count only the cooktop or range under this hood. A separate wall oven doesn't count. The BTU is on the label under the cooktop or in your range's manual.

3How tall is the room?

36" is a typical counter height.

4Can the hood vent outside?
5Is there power near the hood?

    Installing it

    How it goes in

We sell Victory hoods but don't install them. These steps summarize Victory's installation manual so you and your installer know what's involved. Always follow the manual and local codes.

    1. 1

      Test first

Plug the hood in and check the fan and lights before you mount or enclose it.

    2. 2

      Add ceiling support

Add wood blocking between the joists and screw the round mounting bracket to it, centered over the cooktop.

    3. 3

      Power and duct

Have an electrician install a 120V outlet inside the frame area. Run 6 inch metal duct to a roof or wall cap with a damper.

    4. 4

      Build the frame

Bolt the frame posts to the bracket to set the hood 24 to 30 inches above the cooktop.

    5. 5

      Hang the hood

With at least three people and a stable platform, lift the hood, connect the duct with foil tape, plug it in and fasten it to the frame.

    6. 6

      Filters

Install the mesh filter, plus charcoal filters if you are running it ductless.

We sell the hood, not the install

We don't install. A contractor, with an electrician for the power, should follow the maker's manual. Questions while you plan? Call us at (508) 419-4276.

    Questions

    Frequently asked questions

    Can it run without ducting?

Yes, as an option. Add charcoal filters (choose a set when you order) and the hood filters the air and sends it back into the kitchen. Charcoal filters need replacing every 3 to 6 months. Venting outside through 6 inch duct is the standard setup.

What ceiling height does it fit?

As shipped, it fits an 8 foot ceiling. The hood and chimney together reach up to 40 inches. For a 10 foot ceiling, Victory offers frame post and chimney extensions.

How high above the cooktop should it hang?

24 to 30 inches from the cooktop to the bottom of the hood, centered over the cooktop.

How do I clean the filter?

Clean the aluminum mesh filter about every 30 hours of cooking. It is not dishwasher safe; soak it in a degreaser, dry it and reinstall.

    What is the warranty?

Victory's manual gives a one-year parts warranty for the original purchaser. Lights and filters are not covered.
